Cause of Injury: Mining Accident
Kumar was admitted to the centre on October 1st, 2005. He
was injured while working in a coal mine in Meghalaya, India
when the mine collapsed. He had been cared for by his employers,
but had not received surgery. Kumar, prior to the accident,
had been the sole bread-winner for his mother and younger
brother. As a result of his worry, he was initially depressed
when admitted to the centre. While at the centre, Kumar received
sewing training as well as physiotherapy.
When discharged from the centre on May 15th, 2006, Kumar
required a wheelchair but was fully independent in it.
