Dhak Bahadur lived with his father and was studying in class eight when he fell from a tree while picking mangoes. He was admitted to the Centre one week after his surgery and upon arrival he was unable to move his lower limbs. He remained at the Centre for three months after which he would walk with the help of a walking stick. Dhak Bahadur plans to return to school and hopes to one day become a politician.

Cause of injury : A bullet wound
Kishor Bhadhur Shai , was a sub-inspector with the Nepal Police prior to his injury. During Nepal's civil war while battling the People's Liberation Army (PLA-Maosit Army) in Kailali, he was injured by a bullet wound which left him spinally injured. Kishor arrived at SIRC on May 18, 2005, and upon arrival he had no bladder and bowel control (he relied on a Foley catheter), had a urinary tract infection, and his lower limbs did not work. When he first arrived at SIRC he refused to talk to people and was severely depressed. After 161 days at the Centre, he received training on bowel and bladder control and was able to use a wheelchair independently. His mood also changed as he became motivated and active and he has now opened a shop in Kathmandu
