Vocational Training

After enduring a spinal cord injury, most patients are unable resume the work they did prior to their injuries (often farming or working as a laborer). Losing the ability to continue work can be financially devastating to both the patients and their families. Therefore, the objective of the vocational training department is to ensure that the patients are able to learn practical income-generating skills.

Vocational training is very important for the patients re-integration into sociey. Among the activities that the Spinal Center  provides are basic computer training, candle making, incense making, sewing, weaving and farming. The products that they make while they are at the center are sold at local fairs, fund-raising drives and during festivals.

Several of our patients have continued to use the vocational skills that they learnt at the Spinal Center and are now earning a living with their new skills. (See patient stories)
